A'Mare
Year: 2008
Country: UK
Actors and Actresses: Andrea Puglisi, Felice Puglisi
Tags: boy skinny dip
Review: Two boys, 11 or 12, perhaps brothers, take a rowboat from shore to fish. Andrea, who's tougher, complains a lot, sometimes criticizing Felice, sometimes just complaining about life and his situation. Out of sight of shore, Andrea sees a suitcase; he jumps into the water, swims to it, and starts to push it back to the boat. While he's doing that, Felice sees a man floating, face up. While he tries to grab the man and hold on, he knocks an oar into the sea. The boys are unable to lift the man into the boat, and without two oars, can't head to shore. Will rescue come? Andrea tries to reassure Felice while also figuring out who the man is and what he's doing in the sea. - IMDb

Vyhnání z ráje
Year: 2001
Country: Czech Republic
Review: A filmmaker has to deal with obnoxious producers, uncooperative weather, and a troublesome cast -- not all of whom have opposable thumbs -- in this satiric comedy-drama. Rosta (Boleslav Polivka) is a director whose latest project is an ambitious film that draws parallels between the lives of humans and animals, and as illustration he's cast the members of a local nudist colony, who are to interact naked with a group of apes. However, the cold weather doesn't do much for the esprit de corps of his human cast, while the primates predictably refuse to take direction. Meanwhile, Rosta's backers are demanding more comic relief, the screenwriter argues for a more emotional approach, and Rosta's family shows up unannounced, getting in the way despite their best intentions. Vyhnani z Raje was directed by veteran filmmaker Vera Chytilova and was screened at the 2001 Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic. - Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Ballerina
Year: 2006
Country: France
Review: In the grand tradition of the Ballets Russes comes a portrait of five Russian ballerinas from the Mariinsky Theatre (also known as the Kirov). Behind any great ballerina lies the discipline and rigour that comes from decades of training and practice. Superstars like Nijinsky, Baryshnikov and Pavlova established the reputation of Russian dancers as the best in the world. The five dancers profiled in this revealing film are tough, insightful and exceptionally talented; onstage they reveal no hint of the sweat, pain and hard work of the rehearsal studio. From Swan Lake to Romeo and Juliet, from the backstage studio to performing on stages around the world, Ballerina captures the sublime beauty of ballet, in all its resplendent glory.

Aventuras com Tio Maneco
Year: 1971
Country: Brazil
Actors and Actresses: Maurício Farias, Mauro Farias, Lui Farias
Review: Three boys and their uncle venture into the Amazon jungle in search of their missing grandfather who's been kidnapped by evil space robots! An unusual and hard-to-find kids film that mixes live-action, animation and some "mondo" footage to tell it's story. - IMDb

Sügisball
Year: 2007
Country: Estonia
Review: A young writer called Mati is stalking his ex-wife, while also trying to make unsuccessful passes at other women. Augusti is a barber living a dreary bachelor life who forms a bond with little girl, but his approaches are misconstrued as pedophilia. Laura, a single mom, tears up over sappy soap operas, but refuses real-life advances from clueless men, because her ability to trust has been ruined by her violent drunk of an ex-husband. Maurer, the architect, worries about the wellbeing of humanity, but ignores his own wife Ulvi, who in turn looks for solace in the arms of a coatroom attendant named Theo. Women have always liked Theo, but due to his low social status, they don't take him seriously. All of these people might inhabit identical tower blocks, but they couldn't feel more alienated from each other if they tried. - IMDb
