Svidd neger
Year: 2003
Country: Norway
Actors and Actresses: Kingsford Siayor
Review: Anna lives with her father Karl someplace in the outskirts of northern Norway. Karl killed his ex-wife and threw her newborn colored child into the sea when he discovered that she obviously had been unfaithful. Now Karl is being haunted by her ghost and is developing a serious drinking problem. Anna is looking for the love of her life, but there aren't many bachelors around - until they discovers another small family on the other side of the mountain. They meet a semi-alcoholized widow on Karl's age, her son Peder, and her black adopted son, Ante, that arrived from the sea on a piece of wood. - IMDb

Review: It's the foundation of humans. That thing is "family." Family relations have become weak, and they say that the "ties" of the good old days have begun to disappear. Even if you try to reform the "ties," you feel embarrassed and worry about what others will say about you expressing your love. The truth is, each and every one of us, deep in our hearts, is aching for familial love.

The Truth About Sauna: The Truth About Finns
Year: 2008
Country: Finland, Germany, France

Review: Taking sauna is the Finnish people's national obsession, so there are two of the per five Fins, and they build theme everywhere, even on military operations and aboard vessels, but preferably near a lake, to dive in even on ice days, with trees to cut whisking birches from. Weekly, usually on Saturday, is considered a hygienic minimum, daily the good life, especially in summer and holidays. It's a family and/or social activity, relaxing and removing social barriers, but also linked to sports and all kinds of bonding. - IMDb

'The Truth About Sauna: The Truth About Finns'

Koridorius
Year: 1995
Country: Germany, Lithuania
Review: This experimental Lithuanian-German production offers a challenge for those not familiar with the culture. It is told without a clear narrative and contains no dialog. Set in the country's capital, Vilnius, in a run-down apartment. Mostly the film is a highly-symbolic chronicle of daily life there. At one point someone holds a party featuring music, dancing, plenty of cigarette puffing, and a smidgen of sex. According to filmmaker/writer/star Sarunas Bartas, he deliberately utilized off-beat narrative structures to symbolize the links between Lithuania's past and present, links, like the long hallways of an apartment block, that offer many possibilities behind each door. - Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

He grows wheat to keep his family fed during the lean war years. He is also resolutely against the war and is arrested by the public security police for being "unpatriotic."
