La femme de GillesYear: 2004 Country: Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Italy, Switzerland Actors and Actresses: Alice Verlinden, Chloé Verlinden Tags: bathing girl Review: Set in one of those sleepy hamlets burbling with underground rivers of molten feeling, the French drama "Gilles's Wife" opens with a man returning home and rousing his sleeping wife first to consciousness, then to passion. The man is Gilles (Clovis Cornillac), a provider with the fleshy round face of a baby, who dutifully trudges with antlike constancy between his home and the mine in which he works. Not until this pacific world comes undone by those molten passions do we hear the name of Gilles's wife, a woman whose steady smile speaks to a well-ordered life organized around her beautiful children, her tidy home and, most important, the husband who serves as her sun. The woman, the wife and the mother is Elisa, and she is played by the fascinating French actress Emmanuelle Devos. Ms. Devos has softly blurred features and a smile as enigmatic as the Mona Lisa's. The story is simplicity itself: Elisa, as if waking from a dream, slowly realizes that Gilles has developed a passion for another woman. The director of "Gilles's Wife" is Frédéric Fonteyne, whose best-known film is a slight entertainment called "A Pornographic Affair" that, much like this work, has an appealing surface beauty and an equally shallow mystery. — Manohla Dargis, The New York Times Movie added at: 08.11.2025 |

Harry, un ami qui vous veut du bienYear: 2000 Country: France Actors and Actresses: Victoire de Koster, Laurie Caminata, Lorena Caminata Tags: bathing girl Review: On a hot day in a highway gas station men's room, a man Michel doesn't recognize says they went to school together. He's Harry. He suggests they have a drink, so he and his girlfriend follow Michel and his family to their summer place. Michel is amazed when Harry quotes from memory a poem Michel wrote in school. Harry thinks Michel is a great writer, and he's distressed that Michel hasn't written in years. Harry stays awhile (since his father's death, he's a man of leisure) and sets out to eliminate distractions that might keep Michel from writing. First he buys Michel a car (with air conditioning) and then suspicious things happen. Michel picks up a pen, Harry is gratified, but he's not finished being Michel's self-appointed patron. - IMDb Movie added at: 01.11.2025 |

SeulsYear: 1990 Country: Belgium Tags: bathing boy, bathing girl Review: Shot like a grungy medical documentary, Smolders and co-director Thierry Knauff intercut shots of several children at a Belgium psychiatric clinic. The kids are shown with forlorn expressions, twicthing their eyes, sometimes smiling, shaking, jumping, rocking their heads side to side, or smacking their heads with horrific glee against walls. It's a minimalist work that captures the intense monotony of lost and disturbed young minds, and maintains a gritty intensity. - kqek.com Movie added at: 23.08.2025 |

Saint-CyrYear: 2000 Country: France, Germany, Belgium Actors and Actresses: Jeanne Le Bigot, Mathilde Lechasles, Nina Meurisse Tags: bathing girl Review: This historical drama is based on a true story from 17th century France. Madame de Maintenon (Isabelle Huppert) rises from humble beginnings to become a courtesan to the royal court and eventually marries King Louis XIV (Jean-Pierre Kalfon). With the king's indulgence, Maintenon opens a special school for girls, seeking to educate young ladies of distinguished parentage but limited financial means. With the coaching of Maintenon and her staff, the girls learn to speak French with a linguist's precision, in addition to studying philosophy and history. However, when two of Maintenon's charges, Anne (Morgane More) and Lucie (Nina Meurisse), recite material in class that Madame deems inappropriate, it begins a war of wills between the headmistress and her students. The girls begin demanding increasingly greater freedom of both mind and body, as Maintenon turns from espousing beauty and liberty to demanding strict self-denial and enforcing an increasingly narrow set of regulations. Velvet Underground co-founder John Cale composed the film's original score. - Mark Deming, All Movie Guide Movie added at: 12.07.2025 |

Toss (Kay) is a sweet girl on the verge of adolescence, who lives on a sheep farm with her father in the rolling hills of New Zealand.
